College scholarships are awarded to qualified students with moderate to profound hearing loss to continue their education on undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference is given to undergraduates. Students must demonstrate a serious commitment to academic and career excellence. All fields of study are welcome. The scholarship award is not renewable. It can be awarded twice, but applicants must reapply. The scholarship awards are between $250.00 to $2,000.00. Applications are due March 1st.
Eligibility requirements are:
Applicants must be identified as having a moderate to profound hearing loss since birth or before acquiring language and must have a (60 dB or greater hearing loss in the better ear in the speech frequencies of 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz. Applicants must use speech and residual hearing and/or speechreading (lipreading) as their primary and preferred mode of communication. Applicants must attend or have been admitted to a college or university program that primarily enrolls students with normal hearing.
